1. Unmute the volume
We sometimes don’t notice when the volume’s on mute. YouView has its own volume control, separate from your TV. If you haven’t synced your remote with your TV then either volume could be on mute:
YouView volume
Check the top right hand corner of your screen. If you have this symbol, then you’re on mute. Press the button on your remote control to unmute the volume.
TV volume
Depending on your TV the mute symbol may appear somewhere on your screen. See if you can spot it. If you can’t, move onto the next step.
2. Turn the volume up
If you haven’t synced your remote with your TV then, it’s possible one of the volume controls is too low to be heard. Try turning the volume up on both your YouView remote and your TV remote.
3. Check your cables
Head around the back of your box and check the HDMI (or Scart) cable is connected to the HDMI (or Scart) port.
Then follow the cable and make sure it is securely connected to your TV.
Please note: When using a surround sound system, you may be using an alternative connection, e.g. S/PDIF. If you are using external audio equipment, please check with the manufacturer for compatibility.
4. Further help
For help with set up or your equipment, please contact your box provider or internet service provider.
If you have no sound on a particular programme or player, we'd suggest contacting the content provider. If you have no sound at all please contact your box provider for further help.
