YouView is a connected service that uses the internet for most of our best features, like On Demand, scroll back TV or search.
You can use YouView without an internet connection but you’ll be missing out on what makes YouView, YouView. Connecting to the internet gives you access to the backwards EPG, subscription channels and On Demand content. Not having an internet connection will also inhibit your boxes ability to receive important software updates. The only things you'll be able to do would be to watch live TV through your aerial and view your recordings.
For the best internet connection, direct Ethernet to Router connection is recommended even if you have a Wi-Fi enabled box.
If you have a Wi-Fi enabled box and cannot connect directly to the router, you can use the Wi-Fi mode on the box. We recommend that you connect to the Wi-Fi through your Hub router.
If you have a YouView box which does not use Wi-Fi, should connect the box to the router via an Ethernet cable, or, if your router is too far from your YouView box, you can use powerline adapters to connect to your box. If you are setting up your box for the first time, you will need an internet connection to complete the process.
